But, they did. It certainly makes you wonder what really happens while you sleep. Now, I must say. If you tend to not believe in things like demons or ghosts then you probably should just skip this movie entirely. As I think it brings a certain amount of relation to the fear that this movie provides. The acting wasn't particularly Oscar worthy but, it was a very simple premise and interaction. No great love affairs or any of that jazz. Just two regular people trying to live their lives with something haunting them on nearly a daily basis. We also see how this takes its toll on their relationship and their functioning as normal humans. I will tell you that although I did not achieve the level of fear that I received from the Blair Witch I did receive some fear. Which is a damn sight better than anything named H2. So far I would say this beats Trick or Treat to become my number 2 best horror movie of the year. Its not what I would refer to as a fun horror movie the way an Friday the 13th would be. This is an make you think horror movie. And make you question. And in turn one you will own but, probably not watch much due to the sheer drain of it. I give this movie 5 out of 5 axes. I really wish I did an out of 10 rating because 5 just seems low. Enjoy this masterpiece. And good luck on that first nights sleep after.

Ok, so its time for me to do the review for the 3rd installment of the Wrong Turn Trilogy. This time we Three Finger returning for more hillbilly cannibal mutant fun. Now, I must say before I start this review that I really liked the first Wrong Turn and thought the second one was pretty good for direct to dvd flick. The 2nd one was pretty poor through the first half and pretty good during the 2nd half. It lacked a real strong story but, made up with Henry Rollins playing Billy bad ass marine guy. This time the story centers around prisoners led by an Mexican gangster played by Tamer Hassan and their transport trip from one prison to another which of course takes an Wrong Turn. It also centers around an prison guard who is played by Tom Frederic. Now, this movie had some of the trademark issues any movie with only an $1 million budget is going to have. Some really bad CGI gore in a couple spots, some piss poor vehicle riding scenes, and an actresses in the beginning showing her tits and dropping some REALLY bad porno scripting lines. Thats where the wreck stops though for this flick. After the first 10 minutes surprisingly Wrong Turn 3 takes a right turn and has some strong acting and interaction between the characters. Particularly Tamer Hassan who plays the Mexican gangster perfectly and you could feel the show down between him and Three Finger coming. I think Hassan's equally morbid side made for a nice twist. As he saws Three Fingers kin's head off with a knife. Good stuff. The gore was much stronger when they stuck to applicances. Man, paging Tom Savini. If the gore would have not been CGI I would be really raving about this flick. There are some notably corny spots like Three Finger swinging in to the back of the tow truck. Which just looks terrible. But, they made up for it with a ending that teaches us not to be greedy. All in all Wrong Turn 3 Left For Dead was quite a bit better than its previous installment. And the prisoners were all played by actors that seem to have the basic jest for what they were doing. At least they came across as villians from The Shield or Sons of Anarchy. Which in the land of terrible horror acting is not a bad thing. I give this flick 3.75 axes out of 5 axes. If your a Wrong Turn fan then its a must own. Otherwise, its a definite rent. As long as you keep an open mind regarding its budget.

Ok, so I finally got to see Zombieland this past week. Man, I really got to get on the ball. Not having a laptop has set me back a ton the development of this site. Anyway, that brings me to Zombieland. I must say I have been fired up from the first moment of the first trailer from months ago. Now, I believe by the trailer people could tell this was going to be an horror/comedy much in the vain of Shaun of the Dead. This movie stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Bill Murray doing an great cameo. Essentially, the premise of this film is that the entire world is overrun by zombies and theres not much left. Few regular folks. So has Columbus one of our heroes begins his journey back to Ohio he runs in to our other wise cracking redneck hero played by Woody Harrelson. Now, I don't think I've enjoyed Woody in a picture this much since his role in the comedy Kingpin which to me is the funniest damn movie ever made. During this hoot across country they meet two young ladies that are con artist and of course they initially get screwed out of their vehicle by the two. Then Woody has a serious taste for twinkies. Anyway, guys if your expecting a hardcore zombie movie you definitely will not get it. Saved that for the great Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later flicks. However, you will be a funny as hell ride. This movie plays as part road trip buddy movie and part zombie movies. Now I one draw back. There was so few interaction with actual zombies. I was kind of surprised. There was an ton of character development. Which leads me a bit to believe that they knew they had a real potential hit and setting up a franchise. There seemed to be too much character development. Maybe 10 minutes too much. It seemed to weigh down the movie a bit. It of course, ends with our heroes rescuing the young ladies from zombie about to be eaten peril. Now, I am not a big british comedy fan. Alot of people ask me how it compares to Shaun of the Dead. And well to me it doesn't. There just too different of a movie. Yes their Zombie comedies but, the humor of Britain and the humor over here is just set up differently. This movie is a definite must see and must own later. It is a new classic. And you won't be disappointed as long as you know what to expect. 4.0 out of 5 axes. Pacing was a little off. Too much character development to get a 5. But, good fun. Enjoy.

For christ sakes. Once in a damn good while movies come around that make you set back and go god damn. This was it. I am a particular fan of the zombie genre. The best in my terms are Dawn of the Dead (the remake or original), both 28 Days and Weeks Later, and the original Day of the Dead. Shaun of the Dead and Army of Darkness in more comedy/horror terms. That being said Dead Snow does a little of all of the above. I must say. In a weeks time I've seen two of the best horror movies I've ever seen in Poughkeepsie Tapes and now Dead Snow. This movie centers on several folks taking a nice little vacation up in to the mountains to a cabin (Evil Dead anyone?). A unique combination of zombies, gore, a beautiful snow top mountain setting, a cabin all collide to make beautiful terror together. This is a zombie explosion of delight. Complete with evil Nazi zombies. Some unreal gore. Including a guy and a zombie hanging from a cliff by intestines. A woman waking up to being eaten alive. A guy chopping his arm off with a chainsaw straight up Bruce Campbell Evil Dead style. Balls being bitten by a zombie. Trapped under the snow escape. Frankly, this movie had just a little of everything. Even a sex scene right after a guy has taken a crap in a dirty ass outhouse. God how great is that? These zombies are fucking mean bastards set on destruction. I must say it is beyond me that any horror zombie fan could see this movie and not love it.. There is some CGI gore but, not enough to take away from this masterpiece. This is a must own when it comes out. 5 gore infested axes out of 5.

Feast 3: The Happy Finish Movie Review

Ok, so I just got through watching Feast 3 The Happy Finish. And i will say. I loved the first one. And thought the 2nd was okay at best. Not often is a 3rd movie of the trilogy better than the 2nd but, this one is. As always Clu Guluger and the left over brand of misfits from the first one are continuing their escape from what ever in the hell kinda monsters these are. Anyway, as with any Feast film I believe it shows it god given right to show boobs, and lotsa of gore. In those to areas this film does not disappoint. I did get a little confused by the ending. However, one of the names of a new character was Jean Claude Seagal. Nice. Directed by John Gulager from the first two. It has a nice finale to the end of the series. Wait. I'm already hearing Feast 4 talk. So much for that. So if your looking for a lot of gore, and boobs. Rent Feast 3. If you liked the 1st two you will definitely dig this. We're not talking Oscar caliber cinema guys. Its gore and boobs. But, theres worst things you could be doing other than watching this. Too bad its not as good as the first. Which was excellent. Because the ending was so confusing and all over the place. I will have to give this 3 out 5 axes. Enjoy.

Candyman : Farewell to the Flesh Review

Ok, so I love slasher flicks and to a point I am a bit of Candyman fan. Maybe because frankly, I like the hell out of Tony Todd. Who is a great genre actor as many fans know from Candyman movies, The Rock, and Final Destination films. This is also the sequel to the first Candyman but, I figured I better review this one as it just happened to come on TMC. Now, I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and I actually remember really liking it. And now. Well, damn. I will first say we immediately miss the acting ability of Virginia Madsen who did a great job in the first one. And this one has a mystery plot of trying to learn the origin of Candyman. This plot is not overly strong. Its fair. And its by no means a terrible movie. It has some decent kills and Tony Todd is strong in the scenes he is actually in. And there is a really good origin flashback which is extremely cool. And actually, makes me think they should've made a prequel instead of Candyman 3. But, considering he has a hook as a hand. We and he uses this to do the killing Candyman man tends to lack some of the extras that a Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers when it comes to being creative. Overall, its fairly decent and a good watch at 4am in the morning. Huh. Does that make it good. Hmmm. Damn. I give this 2.0 out of 5 axes. I'd say unless your just a massive Tony Todd or Candyman fan you skip it.

Friday the 13th Part VII A New Blood Movie Review

Ok, so its that time again. Hell, I'm running out of time. Friday the 13th is just a few days away. 5 days. And I still need to review Part 3, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason. Shit. And I been meaning to post my review for His Name is Jason which I bought last week. Damn. Ok, on the Part VII. This is the one with Jason vs Carrie. Wait. Jason vs Tina. My Bad. This is film is known for several reasons. One it marks the first appearance of Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees. Whoa. Kane was great in this movie. During his scenes vs Tina he flat ass looked pissed. Especially, after he lost his mask. Also, its known as the absolute gorest of the franchise. Cept, we didn't get to see any gore. The MPAA had this movie chopped to pieces in the editing room. And having been about two years since I watched this I had forgotten that this mf was not gory at all. In fact, my gf who is trying to watch them all before Friday (and like a juggalo is on Jason X) said. There wasn't any gore in that. And no there wasn't. This movie was originally given a X rating. Well, that must've been like most of the movies. Cuz, it was goreless. And you know this actually used to be my 3rd favorite back in the original 8 days. But, I'm not so sure any more. Its definitely back to 4th or maybe lower. I kinda fell out of love with this movie over the years. I mean Tina vs Jason is a pretty damn good fight. She gives him hell. And in case you don't know what I mean basically, Tina had special powers (like Carrie) and could f some mess up. And her doctor played by the legendary B Movie legend Terry "Weekend At Bernie's" Kiser had recommended she come back to Crystal Lake 10 years after she basicially drown her father under a lake dock. Well, upon returning she sees an image under the water which she thinks is Dad but, nope. Its Jason. A major fup on her part. She rises Jason back out of his watery Part VI grave and its on. He kills a ton of folks in this movie. And Kane puts his mark on the scene with his unstoppable terminator like Jason Voorhees. This movie however, now that i'm older seems alittle out of left field. Carrie vs Jason? After the beauty that was Jason Lives it now leaves me a little on the WTF just happened side of the coin. And I feel bad about that after it being one of my favs for so long. The lack of gore. The far fetched Tina's powers thing. Hmmm. But, all in all a good Friday as it was the last at Crystal Lake until Freddy vs Jason. I can not wait for a possible uncut version of this movie if they ever release it. I have heard there is upwards of 10 mins of this movie out there. Complete with its X rated glory. Anyway, its a must own. And its better than JGTH, Part 8, and Jason X. And I see Kane in this and feel betrayed that he never got to go to camp and really get into it with some folks. I give this Friday 4 out of 5 axes. Its a must own. Just due to Jason's presence played by Kane Hodder and its still entertaining. Just keep a open mind. You will need it.

Friday the 13th Part 2 Movie Review

Well, as we steam roll toward next Friday. And the 13th. We drop the review for Friday the 13th Part 2. This movie in a lot ways was very similar to Friday the 13th. Had a buncha camp counselors. A Crystal Lake. And I will say for a follow up to the first one. A damn good connection between the two. Also, its notable for starting the 4 day run of terror by one Jason Voorhees. Now, this of course makes this movie legendary entry in to the series. Because as any horror fan knows by now this is Jason's first adult appearance in the series. Now Jason did not have the signature hockey mask yet. This was the Bubba Gump sack over the head Jason complete with Wrong Turn retardation. Jason also was pretty quick in this movie. Didn't run per se. But, at least kinda skipped. Now they say the re-launch is patterned off of entries 2 thru 4. So this might be a good watch especially to refresh or see it for the first time. I personally will say this is one of the scarier movies of the series. Pretty creepy including a scene where Paul and Ginny go in to the cabin and everybody is dead and Jason is hiding in the room. Ginny screams and a creepy sorta struggle erupts between Jason and Paul in which he gets knocked out. Now, I will say. These movies were known for strong females at the end fighting our beloved killer one on one. Well, in my opinion Amy Steele as Ginny was the best (yes, even better than Lar Park Lincoln in Part VII). She knew how to fight Jason. Same way Tommy Jarvis did. Play mind games with his ass. This movie also is known for the where's Paul ending and the infamous jump through the window. Also we find out what happens to Alice after her little machete head chopping of Mama Voorhees. Now, for me. I'm a bias fan of Jason and the hockey mask. And salso a pretty big fan of the Kane Hodder, CJ Graham terminator type Jason's we got in the later movies. But, overall, this is pretty good. Part 2 is must own addition to the series and a damn good horror movie. I give it 4 out 5 axes. Rockbot for HorrorHideout.Com

Friday the 13th The Final Chapter Movie Review

Ok, as we continue closing in on the release of Platinum Dunes' reimaging or relaunch of Friday the 13th I wanted to try my best to review each of the films. As with every review I try to give some kind of disclaimer to warn that with Friday the 13th movies they are my favorite horror movies of all time. Or horror series if you will. So I tend to be the bias. This movie is notable for a lot of things. Basically, the premise was this was the continuing of a 3 or 4 day massacre starting in Part 2 and ending for good in Part 4 The Final Chapter. Now this movie has a lot of tremendous points. Number 1 would be Corey Feldman as the historic Tommy Jarvis character. You have Crispin Glover as a great teen character with terrible dancing skills but, a personality you had to love. Trish was great as being Tommy's sister. Strong female heroine that we had got used to with the preceding 3 films. Now, I continue to this day and I say probably once a month on here that Tommy was the true killer of Jason. No hell baby, none of that BS. Not Freddy Krueger (and I loved F vs J). I feel that Joseph Zito directed a tremendous slasher flick and I'm still awaiting The Prowler on net flix and will do a review after I watch it. Anyway, Jason picks off the teens in various gory and rude ways as had become formula in all these movies. However, he did not expect to run in to a very smart little boy named Tommy Jarvis. Who was make up and gore fan himself. Tom Savini came back to help out with this film and boy you could tell it. The gore and effects were tremendous. Jason moved quick in this movie as well. Which made this more nerve racking. As Trish is chased by Jason back to the Jarvis house Tommy is grabbed news paper articles out of slain Rob's backpack and believes he can confuse Jason by shaving his head and confusing Jason in to at least slowing down long enough to kill Jason. Turns out. He was right. In a climatic and historic 2 minutes Jason is hit in the side of the head with a machete and slides down the machete (wow great work Savini). Then as Tommy and Trish share a hug Tommy notices Jason's fingers moving so he procedes to hack Jason up about 30 times while screaming die die die over and over again. Wow. great stuff. Now, I think its important to point out that Jason really is dead after this movie. NEVER. To return again if Tommy hadn't dug him up in Jason Lives. So it could've been a fitting chapter (thank god it wasn't) but, could've been a good ending to a series. so good points: Great deaths, Tommy Jarvis, Corey Feldman, Crispin Glover, Trish Jarvis, the horrific death of Rob (ugh), fitting ending to series. Bad points: Huh. Hmmm. None. I give this Friday 5 out of 5 axes. Great Friday and used to be number 2 on my list until Freddy vs Jason (which is just pure popcorn fun). So being 3 out of 11 isn't bad folks. If by some chance you don't own this. Then. Well, shame on you. Go buy the box set or grab the new ones coming out this year

Friday the 13th A New Beginning Movie Review

I'm trying more and more to post some movie reviews so I can give my take on all my favorite and not so favorite movies. Here for me comes a real bittersweet movie for me. Bittersweet because by now. You know Jason Voorhees wasn't the killer in this movie and some ambulance driver was (worst idea since Greedo shooting first) however, it does continue the Tommy Jarvis storyline. We find ourselves with Tommy at a half way house of sorts for mentally challenged kids. Now, Tommy has been haunted by images of Jason since the whole dramatic I killed Jason moment of Friday 13th Final Chapter (one day review coming). Anyway, the premise was to give everybody some Friday the 13th but, since they killed ol' Jason off. Shit. We got to do something else. So after seeing his son hacked up a ambulance driver decides to kill a bunch kids using Jason's old MO. Well, yikes. talk about Jumping the Shark. or whatever. Anyway, kids getting hacked up left and right with a nice amount of nudity and gore. If there wasn't a Friday the 13th Movie Series to follow I might have dug the shit out of this. But, knowing this wasn't Jason left me with that flipping my sister feeling. Sure, she's got a great bag of goodies but, in the end there is something wrong with it. I give it 2 axes out of 5. Which is so painful because this is my favorite horror series. Least Tommy Jarvis is back and that pretty much the reason it got an extra star instead of just one. Least Jason Lives was next....
