The Hurt Locker Review

Ok, so I know this is not a horror movie but, I don't care.  This is a movie that I have been hearing rave reviews about and during their trailer there are alot of reviews giving this the best action movie of the year.   If you read this site you know I am all for a good action flick.  That being said I think it should be made clear this movie is different than other "action movies" in the sense that its not like Crank or Transformers or Indiana Jones.  Its a much more serious action movie.  I would tend to lean toward a thriller action movie much like Clear and Present Danger and Black Hawk Down.  I want to be clear when I say that I have always been a fan of Jeremy Renner.  I have wondered why this guy has not been getting better or bigger parts I should say.  He is not foreign to horror genre fans having played the sniper in 28 Weeks Later.   I really liked him in that flick and I loved him in this movie.  The Hurt Locker is an extremely serious movie centered around a bomb unit in the middle east.   Renner plays a Sergent who thrives on the rush and suspense of disarming a good bomb.  You feel his intensity as he is trying to disarm one of these bringers of death.  This movie is raw and gritty.   Very realistic with somewhat of a doca feel.  There are a couple very good cameos in the movie.  One from one of my favorite actors in Guy Pierce.  Another from Ralph Fiennes.  As a essentially a CIA or bounty hunter role that capture a couple high profile wanted Middle Eastern men.  That is an very intense scene.  This movie does a great job of bringing the suspense of the moment into your  living room.  This is a movie that I would highly recommend to anyone that likes military movies or a very good suspense movie.  Jeremy Renner's performance I believe could be OSCAR worthy.  Its that good.  As he brings you a very strong redneck with a death wish quality struggling with being in the service and trying to deal with everyday normal life.  So far this may be the best movie I have seen all year.  Definitely worth it.  5 axes out of 5.  Enjoy this masterpiece.

Compare the general plot line of JAWS (or Alien) to Hurt Locker. Hurt Locker is a Horror movie - -just disguised as something else.
